Celebrate the global community of franchising

We look at how franchise communities around the world are planning to celebrate the first ever World Franchise Day on June 11, 2025 and what you can do to join in.

New Zealand is joining franchise associations, franchises and their advisors and suppliers in celebrating the very first World Franchise Day, enhancing awareness and appreciation of franchising's role in shaping our modern economies.

World Franchise Day will be celebrated annually, starting on June 11, 2025, and subsequently observed the second Wednesday of June each year.

In its establishment declaration, the World Franchise Council says that World Franchise Day is dedicated to celebrating the global community of franchising, recognising their contributions and innovation within the business landscape. "We urge all franchise associations around the world and players in the franchise industry such as franchisors, franchisees, suppliers and its collaborators to join us in honouring the resilience and forward-thinking nature of the franchise industry, and together, let's commemorate the beginnings of a tradition that underscores the power of connectivity, collaboration and shared success."

Whether you are a part of a large global franchise network, or a homegrown franchise operating here in New Zealand, take the time to celebrate how being part of the franchise community has changed your life.

Celebrating in New Zealand

The Franchise Association of New Zealand has organised an event in Auckland to celebrate the contribution of franchising to New Zealand’s economic growth, employment and entrepreneurship and hear from the Minister for Small Business, Manufacturing and Construction, Hon Chris Penk.

FANZ members and non-members are welcome to attend.

Franchising contributes to over 10% of New Zealand’s GDP and plays a vital role in the business landscape. In this context, Minister Penk will share his priorities for small business and will also address the government’s ongoing direction for areas such as infrastructure, productivity and economic growth.

Whether you can attend the Auckland event or not, FANZ have also suggested a number of ways in which the wider franchise community can celebrate the day.

Acknowledge your team

Franchisors, send a message to your franchisees, head office team, suppliers, and partners to show appreciation for their ongoing support. A small gesture goes a long way in strengthening relationships and reinforcing the value of your franchise community.

Franchisees, involve your employees in celebrating the day, thank your suppliers for their support and encouragement of your business.

Advisors and suppliers, reach out to your clients in the franchise sector and acknowledge the importance of their business to yours.

World Franchise Day is the perfect time to recognise and thank your people!

Celebrate your journey

Franchising is a courageous move and one worth celebrating. Whether you’re just starting out or have built something amazing over many years, take the time to reflect on how far you’ve come.

Shout about why you decided to join a franchise, how your business contributes to your local community and your entrepreneurial journey.

Celebrate your wins, your people, and the values that make your brand stand out.

Share your success

Post about your growth, milestones, or what franchising has meant for your business and team.

Share team photos, customer shoutouts or day-in-the-life content on social media.

Networks are hugely important in franchising, consider getting together with other franchisors or franchisees to co-host an event, or simply share a social campaign.

Don’t forget to use #WorldFranchiseDay so your message becomes part of the bigger celebration across the country and the globe.

Raise awareness of the impact franchising has on New Zealand’s economy by sharing your story.
