The Opportunity

Blackwell Trading Post has been designed to capture the brand profile of Greytown’s popular Blackwell and Sons lifestyle store combined with the rapid growth of Greytown Distilling Company’s premium gins. They come together to form a beautiful, curated selection of the very best of New Zealand’s craft spirits, and in larger format stores, cocktail glassware, specialised spirits books and branded merchandise. Customers can sip a complimentary serve of gins before selection and the product range will include options designed specifically for gifting. It is a whole new experience in craft spirit retailing.

Liquor licence required

Franchisees will be required to obtain a liquor licence and undergo duty manager training to ensure compliance with liquor trading laws. We will help you understand the process and what’s involved.

Skills and Training

We are committed to your success. As a franchisee, you’ll receive comprehensive training and ongoing support in areas such as product knowledge, marketing and operations. Our experienced team is here to help you every step of the way.

Areas Available

All locations will be considered but our most successful stores will benefit from existing high foot and commuter traffic locations, and tourism hotspots. The product targets high social economic groups and is skewed to females with good disposable income, travellers and people who enjoy dining out and home entertainment.

Expressions of interest for a BTP franchise are now open. You may have an apparel store, a deli, cafe or a high-end homewares or gift store. Now imagine if you could supplement that and create a unique customer experience by offering your guests a gin tasting while they browse? On the other hand you may start a new greenfield operation in a unique part of New Zealand.

We’ve road-tested this concept by setting up the very first retail offer inside the popular Blackwell and Sons emporium in Greytown. On a footprint of less than four square metres, we generated a significant number of sales in our first year. We even exceeded our own ambitious expectations. Having that facility inside Blackwell and Sons created a new reason to pop in for a tasting and a purchase, exposing the guest to the rest of the store.
