Every day thousands of coffee lovers around the country buy a Streetwise coffee - and customer numbers keep on growing. Streetwise operates designer, take-away coffee outlets and over the last decade we’ve developed a formidable reputation for the quality of our coffee, our service and the quirky image of our brand.

Streetwise started thirteen years ago in Otaki. This original outlet is now a coffee icon for people travelling on SH1. The company is owned by Jol Glover and Donna Ferrall and we currently have nineteen outlets around the North Island.

We do not compete directly with cafes - we specialise in take-away coffee for people on the go. We pride ourselves on providing a truly enjoyable coffee experience for discerning coffee drinkers. Our franchisees get compliments all the time about the short blacks, lattes, flat whites, cappuccinos and mochaccinos they serve. If a customer wants a ristretto or macchiato they don’t get a blank stare. They get exactly what they asked for. Made perfectly.

Every franchisee and staff member has had expert barista training. So it doesn’t matter which Streetwise outlet a customer buys their favourite coffee from, it will be just like the last one.

Streetwise Coffee outlets are permanently sited so that customers know they will be there when they’re desperate for one of our coffees. We operate like a shop. However, if for any reason circumstances change, unlike a shop, the outlets can be relocated. Your new coffee outlet comes complete with 3 group espresso machine, grinders, fridges, security system, climate-control unit, stocked ready to start trading. It has an electronic touch screen POS system linked to a cash drawer and eftpos machine and it can also operate as a sound system.

New franchisees get to select the colour of their coffee machine and grinders. This helps personalise each outlet. As a new Streetwise franchisee you purchase a turnkey operation, delivered to your site ready to start trading. We assist with site selection, deal with local council requirements and organise any site works.

We love our brand and produce lots of ideas and material that our franchisees can utilize in their local areas, such as posters, radio commercials, promotions, even cinema commercials. Every Streetwise franchise has their own Streetwise Facebook page.

who are we looking for?

Our aim is to provide customers with the best coffee they have ever tasted – and we’re looking for new franchisees who are genuinely excited by the thought spending their days doing this. We want to talk with people who like to have fun, enjoy interacting with others and will take pride in making the best coffee around. You don’t need previous barista experience. We teach all that. What you do need is the ability to manage your own business, motivate your staff and maintain high standards.

We require each owner to work in their outlet. Owners become the “face of their business” and lead by example. For staff members it’s a job, even if they enjoy it and make great coffee. But owners have a true vested interest. We don’t expect our franchisees to work all day, seven days a week, but we require that they are present a good percentage of the time. This also saves on staff over-heads, which means more income for the owners.

We have regular contact with all our franchisees. We work with them to set business goals, we conduct field visits and have an annual group conference. On-going training is available for franchisees and staff on site.

areas available

We are looking for new franchisees in most areas but particularly north of Taupo. If you have an area (or even a site) in mind we would be happy to assess it with you.

We look for sites that are exposed to a large amount of potential customers.
This can be:
A site on a busy road with good visibility from both directions.
Or a site in a large retail complex with a constant flow of cars and people.
A neat, attractive site that reflects well on the Streetwise brand.
Easy and convenient parking access for customers.
General pedestrian traffic.
Other businesses (particularly retail) close by.

As part of owning a new Streetwise franchise, we ensure that you have an exclusive area where the next nearest Streetwise will be far enough away to support your business, not compete with it. You may open another outlet within your area and several of our franchisees have done this.
