YOUNG ARTISTS HELP CHRISTMAS DRAW NEARER
December 2026 - The Coffee Club and KidsCan’s annual Christmas Cup competition continues to inspire young artists across New Zealand, giving students the opportunity to see their creativity come to life on festive takeaway cups at The Coffee Club cafés nationwide
This year, the competition attracted more than 300 entries from over 30 KidsCan-supported schools. As well as seeing their winning artwork brought to life, the young artists helped raise an impressive $10,000 for their schools.
The winning designs are now brightening up The Coffee Club’s takeaway cups for the festive season. In use at all 63 The Coffee Club cafés until mid-January, the cups celebrate Christmas while showcasing the creativity and talent of young Kiwis, giving customers something special to enjoy on their next visit.
And the winners are!
Taking first place is 12-year-old Gillian Miranda from St Mary's Catholic School in Avondale, whose artwork features on The Coffee Club’s medium takeaway cups.
Gillian’s design captures the magic of Christmas in a snowy winter wonderland. A brightly decorated Christmas tree takes centre stage, with two people sitting together on a bench enjoying the festive scene. Snowmen, candy canes, Christmas lights and falling snow bring the landscape to life, while Santa’s sleigh travels across the night sky. In addition to securing first place, Gillian has won a $1,000 Westfield voucher!
In second place is 9-year-old Kaia Ogle from Oruaiti School in Mangōnui, whose artwork celebrates a colourful Kiwi summer Christmas. Her design features a festive caravan, native birds, presents and a large flowering tree, all set beside the beach under a bright summer sun. Kaia's design will feature on The Coffee Club's large takeaway cups, and her creativity has earned her a $600 Westfield voucher.

Third place goes to 12-year-old Darrius Taualofa from Redhill Primary School in Papakura. Darrius’s design brings a touch of Christmas cheer, featuring a decorated tree, presents, a gingerbread character and a warm mug of The Coffee Club hot chocolate, topped with marshmallows and a candy cane. His artwork will feature on the small takeaway cups, and he has won a $400 prize from The Warehouse.
Ten additional students from schools across the country received Highly Commended awards, each earning a $200 voucher for Westfield or The Warehouse in recognition of their impressive designs.
