Franchise Association of New Zealand held its AGM yesterday, at which a new board was appointed.

New faces were welcomed to the Franchise Association of New Zealand board this week at the organisation's Annual General Meeting.

Held online on Wednesday 21 August, the meeting saw a new board appointed, with some familiar faces remaining and some new recruits taking their seat at the table. New to the FANZ board are Julie Evans, shareholder and CEO of Rodney Wayne. Julie has been involved in the hair and beauty sector throughout her working life, starting as a salon assistant in the UK. She joined Rodney Wayne as a franchisee before moving on to the franchisor team and is now proud CEO of this iconic New Zealand franchise brand.

Now General Manager of New Zealand’s largest home services group, Green Acres and Hire A Hubby NZ, Jason Hill has also been appointed to the FANZ board. Jason owned his own business for 16 years before his first involvement in franchising 15 years ago.

Also appointed to the board is Samantha Pollock. Samantha has been a member of the franchisor team at Cookie Time for 11 years and is now National Sales Manager of the franchised distribution network. Founded in 1983, Cookie Time Group is another iconic family-owned New Zealand franchise. Samantha was co-opted onto the FANZ board in 2023.

FANZ Chair Brad Jacobs, of The Coffee Club, stays on in the role for the year ahead, with Dr Callum Floyd of Franchize Consultants as vice-chair.

Jackson Russell Lawyers' Darryl King continues his service to the board this year, as does Scott Jenyns who was once again appointed as an individual member.

FANZ CEO Robyn Pickerill said, "On behalf of all our members, I would like to sincerely thank our departing board members who have put in many voluntary hours to ensure the best outcomes for our FANZ membership, and franchising in NZ, over the last few years. A sincere thanks to Dawn Engelbrecht, Michelle van Gaalen, and Greg Paget."
