Extra requirements for franchisees as employers under new visa category
last updated 05/05/2022
5 May 2022 – Franchisees have been singled out for tougher treatment than other employers in a new visa category. Learn more in a free webinar on 30 May
A new ‘Accredited Employer Work Visa’ policy is due to be implemented on 4th July this year. This will impact migrant recruitment for many companies. But did you know that, under the new policy, there are special – tougher – requirements for franchises? These could have a significant impact on franchisee businesses. For example, what happens when an existing franchisee accredited under the scheme sells to a new non-accredited franchisee?
Because of this, the Franchise Association has been working with MBIE to ensure that franchisees and franchisors are well informed on the requirements for the new visas. They are facilitating a free webinar on Monday 30 May which is open to ALL franchisees and franchisors, whether members of FANZ or not.
The 45-minute webinar will cover:
- Accreditation Criteria for employers employing migrant workers, with emphasis on franchisee requirements;
- The Accredited Employer job check criteria;
- The Migrant Accredited Employer Work Visa ( AEWV) requirements.
It will be presented by Immigration New Zealand’s Carl Andrews, Regional Relationship Manager, and Nick Aldous, Director of Policy Integration.
All franchisees likely to employ migrants and all franchisors operating in this space are strongly encouraged to participate in the webinar to learn more about the special requirements they will need to comply with. There is no charge – just register in advance to reserve a place. It's open to non FANZ members, too.
