New chair, vice-chair for FANZ

26 July 2021 – Franchise Association’s new leaders share a wealth of experience from different sectors of franchising

Dawn Engelbrecht, the new FANZ Chair

Dawn Engelbrecht of childcare franchise sKids has been elected as the new Chair of the Franchise Association of New Zealand, while Nathan Bonney of Iridium Consulting has been elected as the new Vice Chair.

Dawn has 20 years’ experience as both a franchisee and franchisor with sKIds (Safe Kids in Daily Supervision) in New Zealand, as well as having worked as an accountant for a chain of franchised restaurants in her native South Africa.  She has recently joined Link Business as a business broker. Dawn has a B.Comm and MBA, and has served on the FANZ Board for many years.

Nathan Bonney has over 15 years’ experience in franchising with operational and general management roles in some of New Zealand’s best-known food franchises: Columbus Coffee, Mariposa (Mexicali Fresh and Burger Wisconsin), and Cobb & Co.  Along with his wife Meredith, Nathan is founder of Iridium Partners, a multi-disciplined consulting group and brokerage.

The roles were elected at the first Board meeting after the AGM. The full Board for the 2021-2022 year is:

Announcing the new roles, CEO Robyn Pickerill said, ‘Both Dawn and Nathan have served on the FANZ Board for a number of years, and are now looking forward to further contributing, to the next phase in the development of FANZ.

‘On behalf of the FANZ membership, I would like to wish them both well in these roles, and I look forward to working with them.

‘A huge thanks to Callum Floyd, now immediate past Chair, for fulfilling the role of Chair over the last 3 years. The last 18 months in particular, have been most challenging  and Callum's dedication has not waivered. Thanks too, to Brad Jacobs our Vice Chair over the last year.  I personally, have really valued working with such a supportive and well-led Board.’
