WE SALUTE YOU
Franchise Accountants and their clients were out in force celebrating business excellence in franchising
1 November 2025 was a big night for the Franchise Accountants team: they won their seventh Service Provider of the Year award at the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards and were thrilled to present the Retail & Hospitality Franchisee of the Year award to one of their own clients, who then went on to win the Supreme Franchisee of the Year title.
Franchise Accountants’ founding partner Philip Morrison says, “Jess and Kelly Bain of The Coffee Club Ōmokoroa are a great couple and excellent to work with. They ask and take advice, and I am not surprised that their business has been judged to be the best of the best. It is a double honour to act for them on an ongoing basis and to have recognised them as award winners in the category we sponsored on the night.
“We also want to congratulate our franchisor clients Brad Jacobs and Andy Lucas of The Coffee Club New Zealand, which was awarded the Retail & Hospitality Franchise System of the Year. And we would like to commend Harrison’s Flooring Waikato North franchisees Immanuela Pfeiffenberger & Dan Haslam, also our clients and finalists in the Home & Lifestyle Franchisee of the Year category.”
Philip goes on to explain that the Franchise Accountants team have felt very privileged to once again submit their own business to be evaluated by independent judges against their peers. “We strive for excellence,” he says, “and endeavour each year to implement something new that the judges have identified that could improve our business. My business partner Hayden Cargo and I offer our special thanks to all our clients and our team for their loyalty and ongoing support.”
More than just franchise experts
Kelly Bain is quick to identify the key elements behind the success of their partnership with Franchise Accountants.
“Jess and I wanted to work with someone who knew franchising intimately, but the Franchise Accountants team are more than franchise experts. They genuinely care about us – the financial performance of our family and our future. We’ve been looking at further business opportunities, and they ask us really thought-provoking questions about the impact of every decision on our home and family. They absolutely go above and beyond.”
“Franchise Accountants have been fundamental to our success to date, really helping us understand the numbers behind our business. Once you understand where the money all goes to, you can work out the minimum sales required to break even. So, they have taught us how to analyse where every dollar goes after it comes into the café – what does it cover in terms of cost of goods sold, labour, GST – and then to know whether what is left over meets our expectations and plans for the future.
“It’s not just a matter of walking into the café and turning on the coffee machine each morning. We know exactly what our daily, weekly and monthly KPIs and forecasting look like – we are always looking to the future in everything we do, and Franchise Accountants have made sure that all our systems and financial boxes are ticked.”
We’ll be with them long into the future
Philip says that the team at Franchise Accountants are always available for in-person meetings, phone calls and video chats with clients. Kelly agrees wholeheartedly, “In an average month these days we’ll probably contact them once or twice regarding any little thing such as an account in Xero that we don’t quite understand – they always explain it so that we come away really knowing what we are doing.
“For the way they have helped us understand our business, and the level of pastoral care that Franchise Accountants offer our family and future financial wellbeing, we love being partners with them on this journey and will be with them long into the future.”
