Franchise New Zealand publishers Lorraine and Simon Lord trying the Mini for size. 'All the way to Invercargill in this? The Bonodleys must be mad!'

Not long now to the start of the Pork Pie Charity Run, with the franchising team The Bonodleys doing the long drive from Paihia to Invercargill to raise money for KidsCan. The Pork Pie Charity Run is a biennial fundraising road trip based loosely on the route taken by the Blondini Gang in the classic Kiwi movie Goodbye Pork Pie.

The first run took place in 2009 and this year will once again be supporting KidsCan, New Zealand’s leading charity dedicated to helping Kiwi kids experiencing hardship by providing food, jackets, shoes and health products to schools and early childhood centres across New Zealand.

Long-time friends Nathan Bonney, of franchise brokers Iridium Partners, and Matt Woodley, CEO of the Donovan Group, teamed up under the name ‘The Bonodleys’ to raise funds for the cause – and the franchise community responded. Here are some of the franchises and service providers who have got behind the team:

  • Burger Fuel
  • Coresteel Buildings
  • Crank’d Media
  • Duncan Cotterill
  • Ecomist
  • Exceed
  • Franchise Accountants
  • Franchize Consultants
  • Franchise New Zealand media
  • Guthrie Bowron
  • Iridium Partners
  • KiwiSpan
  • Putti
  • Unicloud
  • Smith & Smith
  • Streetwise Coffee
  • The Coffee Club
  • V.I.P. Home Services
  • Wash Rite

‘The 2021 Franchising New Zealand survey showed that franchises contribute millions of dollars to community causes every year,’ says Nathan. ‘We’re grateful for them digging deep to find almost $30,000 extra to help our fundraising for KidsCan.

‘After the floods and cyclone earlier this year, Kiwi kids need our support more than ever. It’s not too late to contribute – go to https://porkpiecharityrun.org.nz/page/TheBonodleys. Every little helps!’

To add an extra incentive, Franchise New Zealand offered a free week of advertising on our website to the next three franchisors to contribute at least $1,000 to the cause. The winners were:

  • Guthrie Bowron
  • The Coffee Club
  •  WashRite

Expect to see their banners at the top of the page over the next few weeks!
