New Board for Franchise Association

With David Dovey of the Exceed franchise, James Philips of ASB and barrister Deirdre Watson stepping down from the Franchise Association’s Board after many years’ service, there were three vacancies to be filled in the recent elections. The new Board members are:

Dawn Engelbrecht of sKids

Darryl King of Jackson Russell Lawyers

Dean Madsen of Westpac

Nathan Bonney of Iridium Partners also stood down at the end of his two-year term and was re-elected.

The returning Board members are:

Callum Floyd of Franchize Consultants

Brad Jacobs of The Coffee Club

Sarah Archibald of Business Franchise Group (Speedy Signs & EmbroidMe)

The seven-person Board includes the usual mix of franchisors and advisors to give a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience across the whole franchise sector. The roles of Chair and Vice Chair are elected at the first Board meeting after the AGM; Callum Floyd is the current Chair, while Deirdre Watson was previously Vice Chair.

The new Board takes over at a time when franchising (and business in general) faces numerous challenges. The Association itself has had to cancel several popular and profitable events in 2021, but under the leadership of CEO Robyn Pickerill and the Board has been able to provide online support to members through its regular PAFAT session. These are due to resume shortly as Covid-19 precautions are ramped up again.

FANZ has also been very active in the last year in making submissions regarding new legislation affecting franchisees and franchised businesses.
