Who is behind Refresh?
Refresh was founded by the collective of highly experienced business strategy and marketing specialists from Traffic. Refresh’s founders each had over 20 years worth of relationships with some of the biggest names in the building industry. Through these relationships and through in-depth industry research, Refresh’s founders were able to discover, address and solve the biggest issues within the residential renovation industry. The solution? Refresh Renovations.

The renovation market is huge. It’s bigger than the fixed-line and mobile telecommunications market. It’s four times bigger than the quick service fast food market. Yet, until Refresh, there were no large, well-known national brands. Renovations were considered a side-project to new home builds and, as a result, were not receiving the project management needed to achieve a high-quality result.
According to independent research company BRANZ, 30% of costs are typically wasted in home renovations. This includes the use of our cloud-based IT system Refresh Control which allows you to access video training sessions, your business information, project pipelines, team communication and customer communication. The head office team will also support you with content generation, online marketing, local marketing, business growth and more.
In addition to traditional advertising, core to Refresh’s marketing programme is Renovate Handbook, which is produced annually by the in-house head office team. All companies have brochures but not many can boast their own successful magazine dedicated to renovating. Renovate Handbook is a cutting edge example of content marketing in the digital age. In addition to being a powerful print-based marketing asset in itself, the magazine provides content for the Refresh website, which in turn drives significant growth in Refresh website traffic on an ongoing basis. What skills and experience are needed to become a Refresh franchise owner?
You definitely do not need to be a builder or have any experience in the building industry to join Refresh. Our current franchise owners have work backgrounds ranging from IT, retail, architecture and midwifery! What you do need is a commitment to a high level of customer service, a business mindset, great leadership skills, a high level of organisation and a desire to grow your business. If you have these skills and abilities, Refresh can help you with the rest. We provide comprehensive training in all aspects of the business, and we support franchisees with world-leading business management systems and processes.
Refresh franchisees generally start out working on the sales side of the business, supported by employed or sub-contracted builders to take care of the project side of the business. As franchises grow, franchise owners move into more of a management role and bring on additional sales and project staff. The franchise model is designed to allow franchisees to start slowly and build up a significant business over time, taking on a large number of concurrent projects. Projects range in size from around $20,000 to upwards of $1,000,000. You will develop an exciting portfolio of projects and clients.
