October 2016 – Lauren Taylor brings fresh energy to providing franchisors and franchisees with the information they need to build better businesses

Lauren Taylor loves the energy and enthusiasm of the people she’s met in franchising over the past few months. Lauren has become a familiar face since being appointed as Franchise Business Development Manager for MYOB, getting out and meeting franchisors and helping them develop systems that make the most of the information they can have at their fingertips. ‘It’s all about helping franchises build better businesses,’ she says.
Lauren knows a bit about building, having created a caravanette from an old van to tour Europe on her OE, and refitted a yacht from scratch back in New Zealand (‘It was basically a hull when we started,’ she laughs).
But she also has a lot of experience in helping businesses find and use technical answers for individual needs. ‘I’ve worked delivering information, communication and technology solutions around the world from start-up businesses through to banks and corporates such as TVNZ, PWC, Datacom and Spark,’ Lauren says. ‘I joined MYOB in 2015 and started to focus on franchising earlier this year.
‘My role is to manage the relationships with franchise networks across NZ – to learn and understand their business, how they operate, their systems and processes. We have a number of online solutions that can simplify processes and help franchise businesses succeed, but to get the best out of them they have to be made to work in with existing systems. Then everyone – including franchisees – has to be educated to see the value and trained to use them properly. By using MYOB, the whole franchise can have the information it needs to make the right decisions at the right time.
‘Franchises are all about people. Whatever your goal, I can draw from my experience to manage the co-ordination and integration of software solutions which will make life easier for both franchisors and franchisees.’
Having travelled extensively and had experiences from sharing cigars with Cubans and dancing the tango in Argentina to trekking the Inca Trail in Peru, Lauren loves the fact that, back home, she is working for a New Zealand company that focuses exclusively on the needs of NZ and Australian business.
‘The really exciting thing is that most businesses just don’t know what MYOB and its add-ons can do. There are a lot of similarities between franchises but every business is unique and everyone has different needs. That’s what I’m here for – to help deliver the solutions.’
