Operating since mid-2020, it offers franchisees across New Zealand the chance to get on board in a growth area. 

Customers include large and small companies in industries experiencing strong growth such as infrastructure, construction, tradespeople and other sectors like agricultural contractors. 

Strong growth potential for franchisees is supported by legislation which states all companies in New Zealand have a duty to ensure worker health and well-being. This is particularly the case where workers use machinery, are exposed to dust, or loud environments. Regular health monitoring is being increasingly supported by government agencies across New Zealand as they source suppliers.

So what service does PeopleCare provide? Using a mobile clinic which is customised to offer health tests at a person’s place of work, PeopleCare offers Hearing tests; Lung function tests; and checks for Hand/Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVs).

It’s unique too. PeopleCare’s appeal lies in its purpose-built mobile clinic model – bringing the service to companies at their convenience and reducing minimising downtime for employers and their staff. This is a model that has been proven to work well overseas. (Here in NZ, this type of service for health monitoring has only been available at specific clinics, meaning each worker previously had to leave their place of employment to attend an appointment).

Businesses like the convenience of the PeopleCare model as individual consultations are usually less than 20 minutes. This means there’s minimal disruption to workplace productivity, and they’re able to monitor the health of their most important asset, their people. 

For franchisees, the model is attractive on an ongoing basis too: a scheduled follow-up service on an annual basis provides opportunities for ongoing, regular repeat business.

This is an opportunity which may suit people who have been impacted by Covid-19. For example, franchisees may have previously been involved in the hospitality, tourism, or events industries and are now looking for a change in career.

Skills & training

PeopleCare uses trained technicians to carry out the health monitoring tests. Full training will be provided as part of franchisee induction, including on conducting on-site spirometry tests, hearing tests and providing advice on vibration-related conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

While a background in health, wellbeing and/or occupational safety is desirable, it’s not essential. You will need to be able to understand and follow technical processes, respect customer confidentiality, and as an owner/operator of a mobile clinic you will need to have a NZ driver’s license.

Most importantly, franchisees will have a genuine interest in people and a proactive drive to grow their customer base on a sustainable basis. Operating with a high standard of ethics is important for us, and so naturally we’ll be seeking franchisees who share our values.
