Racing Ahead to 2021

last updated 22/12/2020

Thank you to all our sponsors, advertisers and readers for your support through this challenging year for all of us. We wish you all the best for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Enjoy the summer - and if you do start to think about new opportunities, here are some resources.

It’s time to look forward to 2021. May it be a year of recovery for all, and a year of opportunity for those looking for something new. To help, we’ve just published the latest issue of our quarterly magazine. In our cover story, we explain that a good franchise is a powerful business model, but buying one is like buying a motorbike – you need to be taught to find your balance, then coached in how to get the best out of it. Once you’re confident, it’s up to you how far and how fast you go. As our cover star (champion racer Avalon Biddle) shows, that can be to the very top!

There are also articles on how to turn your experience into a business, important questions to ask when buying a franchise, and how to find out if an opportunity really will make money. All this plus profiles and details of over 275 different franchises. Send for a print copy or download the digital edition – it’s secure and it’s free!

Mobile-Friendly

If you’re reading articles on a mobile device while you’re out and about this summer, you might like our new feature, which lets you read all our franchise and advisor profiles in a mobile-friendly layout. Here are some examples:

The Emotional Roller Coaster

One of the articles in the latest issue is an edited extract from Scott Greenberg’s new book The Wealthy Franchisee, which has lots of advice on how to make the most of a franchise opportunity. The chapter we have quoted is entitled The Emotional Roller Coaster, which we illustrated with a pic from a theme park. A self-confessed roller coaster nerd took us to task for using a picture of the wrong roller coaster in an exchange on Scott’s LinkedIn page, but it’s still a great article! Read it here.

Readers reading more

Whether in print or online, Kiwis are spending longer than ever with their favourite titles. Latest Nielsen results show that across the board mag readers are now spending over an hour with their magazine. That’s up from 51 minutes a year ago. In an age where digital attention spans are measured in minutes or seconds, that’s a truly remarkable result, says the MPA. In fact, Franchise New Zealand’s online magazine readership is higher than ever, with 5,375 digital reads last month alone.

Over the Summer

We’ll be taking our usual break, so our offices will be closed from 18 December to 11 January. We’ll still be sending out magazines, and our website and digital issue will be available 24/7 – here are links to some key resources:
