NZ landscaping franchise launches in USA

last updated 23/09/2019

19 July 2019 – Zones, the bespoke design-and-build landscaping franchise, is taking Kiwi know-how to Florida

From the Lord of the Rings through to individual employment, New Zealanders are recognised overseas for their work ethic, innovation and ‘Kiwi ingenuity’. It’s a formula which contributed to the formation of Zones, a landscaping franchise which offers customers end-to-end project management as well as landscaping maintenance. Now the locally-founded company has launched in North America, taking its proven model to the home of franchising.

Zones is based on the same design-and-build model as sister franchise Refresh Renovations, which is already operating in the USA. Zones is guided by the principle that landscaping projects needn't be a stressful experience – no matter how big or small they are.

‘The Zones process delivers peace of mind and a single point of contact to undertake projects from briefing through build’, says Kyle English of Pensacola, Florida, who is Zones’ newest franchisee. ‘Within our unique process, homeowners receive a personalised design, fixed quote, and the ability to sit back and relax as we turn their outdoor space into the place to be.’

‘Zones is a full-solution landscaping company that has a unique design and build process,’ explains co-director Matt Steele. ‘This means homeowners can stop worrying about budget blow-outs and horrible experiences, and instead enjoy the experience of their new landscape or outdoor living project.’

It’s a process which was prompted by the rather fragmented residential renovation sector. Refresh Renovations estimates that poor communication, a lack of upfront planning and an absence of organised systems leads to approximately 30 percent of residential renovation project budgets typically being wasted. Zones addresses this issue and has enjoyed considerable growth since its launch in 2015.

‘With a footprint of 15 franchisees, we are now the largest residential design and build landscaping company in New Zealand,’ says Matt. ‘The United States is a huge market but has the same industry issues as New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia. With a great team in place, led by United States-based CEO Paul English, we expect the USA to be a massive growth opportunity for us in the months and years to come.’
