THE COFFEE GUY
COFFEE FUTURE PROVES A SOLID INVESTMENT
Andrea finds a secure future with The Coffee Guy
Andrea Venczellak likes doing things outside her comfort zone. ‘I’ve always been up for a challenge and I even built my own house,’ she grins. ‘But when it came to working for myself, it all seemed too risky. I didn’t know anything about business, so I spent nearly nine years working in a stationery store. It wasn’t until I started talking to our local Coffee Guy franchisee that I realised here was something I could invest in for myself.’
Andrea admits that the hours required of a successful Coffee Guy franchisee were very appealing as a lifestyle, ‘but what I really wanted was to build something of value for my future. I took confidence from the fact that the bank was quite prepared to finance my purchase on the basis that with The Coffee Guy I would be making money from day one.’
Luckily for Andrea, a territory in the Mt Eden area of Auckland was available. ‘I went through The Coffee Guy training and picked up barista skills very quickly, but then they are pretty good teachers after getting over 50 franchisees on the road! I spent a week with another franchisee then a few days on the road with the franchise manager. That gave me great confidence.’
In the 16 months since, Andrea feels she has learned a great deal more. ‘Business has its ups and downs but the flexibility of The Coffee Guy enables you to take your business to where the customers are. I have the option of catering weekend events and I’m looking at a regular Saturday morning sporting fixture too. I’ve built the run up by taking pride in my coffee and talking to my customers – often I know what they want before they do. It was a bit of a challenge at first, as I used to think of myself as quite shy, but I’ve now discovered the outgoing and talkative side of myself,’ she giggles.
One unexpected bonus Andrea has found is a 20 kilo weight loss. ‘It’s been awesome for my health as I’m up and down stairs a lot of the time servicing offices on my regular route,’ she says cheerfully. ‘This is a great business to be in as it’s a wonderful lifestyle and you are providing great coffee while building an appreciating asset. I’m doing well and I can see myself running my business for quite a few years yet.’
The Coffee Guy mobile espresso vans are available at $89,950 +gst, while the newly-launched towable capsules are available at $49,950 +gst. Financial packages are available for good candidates and territories are available nationwide.
