"The ideal BurgerFuel franchisee will have a fierce passion for business"
BurgerFuel might be a global burger concept these days but it was proudly born and bred in New Zealand. Now the long-established brand is calling on aspiring franchisees with a passion for gourmet burgers to register their interest in owning a BurgerFuel store and joining this unique business.
BurgerFuel was launched by founder Chris Mason on Auckland’s Ponsonby Road in 1995. Since then, the only way has been up: BurgerFuel now operates almost 100 mostly-franchised stores across New Zealand, Australia, the Middle East and most recently, the USA.
‘This brand has a stellar reputation for bold burgers made from fresh, natural, wholesome ingredients, and an option-filled menu catering to all lifestyles,’ says Jason Lowery, Country Manager for BurgerFuel NZ. ‘When you buy a BurgerFuel franchise, you’re not just buying a gourmet burger business – you’re buying into a 360-degree lifestyle experience.’
This experience extends far beyond the product: BurgerFuel proudly run their own radio station, Radio BurgerFuel, as well as an in-house arts programme called Creative, Sweet. ‘Be it graffiti, illustration, graphic design, videography or tattooing, we’re all about it, and we like supporting other people who are too,’ says Jason. In addition, the brand has a full collection of custom-built American muscle cars within its Speed and Custom programme, with many of these custom cars owned by franchisees.
With current opportunities in locations such as Auckland, Nelson, Dunedin and Whangarei, the quest is on to find the right candidates to take the helm of both new developments and existing sites. Jason explains that you have to be a very special type of person to own a successful BurgerFuel and drive it forward.
‘Being a BurgerFuel franchisee takes a lot of energy, and a profitable store requires continual attention,’ Jason says. ‘This means we’re looking for franchisees who are keen to roll up their sleeves, throw themselves into day-to-day store life, and eat, play and live the brand every day.’
‘The ideal franchisee will have a fierce passion for business and be ready to dive headfirst into the fast-paced world of BurgerFuel.’
Jason says that when it comes to support, BurgerFuel provides it all. ‘Franchisees become part of a strong and modern franchise model. They benefit from robust operational support and sophisticated systems, as well as the world-class training and marketing programmes that BurgerFuel provide to aid the development of successful ventures.
‘Essentially, BurgerFuel provides everything franchisees need to run a BurgerFuel store and develop their own burger empire, from site selection support and a turn-key store through to on-going operational and marketing support.’
So what do you need to become a BurgerFuel owner? ‘Previous experience in hospitality is beneficial, although not essential for the right franchisee,’ says Jason. ‘A love of gourmet burgers and extremely sound financial knowledge, however, are absolute musts – along with total commitment to succeeding in your own store.
‘We’re excited to meet interested parties that are highly motivated and passionate about the brand, the industry, people and the product. If that sounds like you, we encourage you to visit our website, experience the BurgerFuel vibe and apply to find out more.’
