The Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ) has begun the year on a strong note, welcoming Debbie Aitken as its new Education Programme Manager. Debbie’s appointment comes at an exciting time for the organisation, as FANZ prepares to celebrate its 30th birthday, marking three decades since its incorporation on 2 July 1996.

The milestone year has already seen the launch of a refreshed FANZ website, offering a modern design and improved access to essential information for members and the wider franchise community. Check out the new look website at www.franchiseassociation.org.nz Alongside a full calendar of FANZ events throughout the year including the National Franchise Conference, Knowledge Builder Series and the New Zealand Franchise Awards, the Association is pleased to support a new initiative for franchise marketing this year, The Franchise & Small Business Expo, taking place in Auckland from 18–19 September.

National Franchise Conference 2026 – Spark the Future!

From 22–24 June 2026, join us at the Tākina Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre for the 2026 FANZ National Franchise Conference, celebrating 30 years of FANZ. The event promises to be unforgettable and is considered invaluable for anyone serious about growing their franchise business.

The power-packed programme features international keynote speakers sharing cutting-edge insights; interactive workshops designed to equip you with actionable strategies; panel discussions and roundtables to spark collaboration and innovation; and expert-led training to elevate every aspect of your franchise knowledge and performance.

2026 New Zealand Franchise Awards

For 30 years, the New Zealand Franchise Awards have celebrated the people and businesses driving success across New Zealand’s franchising sector. Now it’s time to register your interest and prepare your entries for the 2026 Awards – will it be your name on a trophy this year?

Registrations & submissions open Wednesday 8 April, with registrations of interest closing 25 May and entry submissions closing 1 July.

Long tenure franchisee recognition

Following strong interest in 2025, recognition for long tenure franchisees will once again be offered at the 2026 Awards. Member franchise systems may nominate any franchisee with a tenure of 15 years or more. This includes franchisees who were eligible in 2025 but were not nominated. Nominations for this recognition are free.
