Meet The Team
Franchise New Zealand is created by a professional team of locally-based people who really understand franchising, franchisors' needs and franchisees' desires. Here's a little bit about each of us so you know who you're dealing with.
Simon LordSimon has over 30 years' experience in franchising both in New Zealand and the UK, working for franchisors large and small, new and established. His roles have included marketing manager for a multi-national fast-food franchise and franchise manager for a new start-up operation. He founded Franchise New Zealand magazine in 1992 and created NZ's first franchising website in 1997. Simon was chairman of the Franchise Association of New Zealand from 2003-2005 and served on the Association's board from its foundation in 1996 until 2007. He was made a Life Member of the Association in 2014.
Something you didn't know about Simon:
Simon has a masters degree in History of Art but these days he's more into the history of motor racing. He even travelled to the UK in 2010 for the famous Goodwood Revival meeting - a chance to dress up in period gear and drool over some famous and fabulous cars.
Lorraine has been in franchising even longer than husband Simon and also has a post-graduate diploma in management studies. Her background includes franchisee field support and business coaching roles, as well as the position of national training manager for an award-winning UK franchise. She has written franchise operations manuals and worked on recruitment strategies and processes in both the UK and New Zealand. Lorraine has also 'walked the talk' by running a franchised printing outlet in London.
Something you didn't know about Lorraine:
Lorraine loves to travel - before arriving in New Zealand in 1991 she and Simon backpacked around Asia and Australia for a year - and she enjoys collecting beautiful objects from all parts of the world. As a child, she lived in France, Singapore and Germany and she speaks French and German.
Eve has been with us for eight years, supporting our clients, managing their sales leads and helping them make the most of their advertising. She has attended franchise meetings and conferences and also completed a programme on Managing A Franchise System, as a result of which she has a good understanding of the challenges that face franchisors. Eve also manages distribution, website advertising, resale listings and our all-important Directory, which is the most up-to-date in the country thanks to her efforts.
Something you didn't know about Eve:
When most people say they are building a house they mean that they have builders working for them. Eve and her husband Allan are rather more 'hands-on' than that and have substantially renovated one home and created another from scratch. Eve was also 'second mum' to our office cat, Suzuki, who managed our operation for many years from a spare NZ Post tray.
Vicky Bennett has over 10 years’ experience in sales and marketing management. She has previously worked with an academic publisher in the UK and brings a wealth of expertise covering both print and digital media.
She is passionate about new business development and takes pride in providing consistent high levels of customer service. Originally from Yorkshire (with the accent to match), Vicky now lives on the Hibiscus Coast with her husband and two children and enjoys spending time at the beach with her family.
Sally first joined Franchise New Zealand in 1997 and has played a massive part in the development of our magazine, website and social media services ever since. She has a Bachelor of Business Studies degree and is one of the few people in New Zealand to hold a formal qualification in franchising - a Certificate of Franchising from Unitec. She has worked with many franchisors at various stages of maturity over the years, and is always quick to assist people to find the help they need. Sally went to work in Europe in 2014 and, after returning to New Zealand and gaining new insights working with another publisher, joined us again in 2016 with a particular focus on social media and business development.
Something you didn't know about Sally:
Sally has been heavily involved in amateur dramatics for many years as actor, director and president of different clubs. She also plays the cello and recorder.
